Kalimantan–Java Coal Logistics Challenges
Kalimantan is Indonesia's largest source of coal, but industrial centers and energy demand are concentrated in Java. Thousands of kilometers of distance, unpredictable sea weather, and limited port capacity are real challenges that must be overcome with a structured system.
Our Four-Stage Supply Chain
1. Mining in Kalimantan
PT. HUA YAO ENERGI operates mines in Kalimantan managed to international safety and environmental standards. Coal is mined, sized, and undergoes initial quality checks before being sent to the loading port.
2. Sea Transport to Surabaya
Coal is transported using large-capacity barges to Surabaya Port. We partner with trusted barge fleets with regular departure schedules to minimize waiting time. Every shipment includes a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) from an independent laboratory.
3. Surabaya Stockpile — Supply Buffer
Our stockpile facility at Jl. Tambak Osowilangun, Surabaya covers 20,000 m² and can store up to 60,000 tons of coal. A minimum stock of 30,000 tons is always maintained as a buffer to ensure we can meet customer demand at any time, including when bad weather disrupts sea shipments.
4. Distribution to Java Industry
From the Surabaya stockpile, coal is distributed by truck to industrial areas in Gresik, Sidoarjo, Lamongan, Mojokerto, and Surakarta. Deliveries can be scheduled according to customer needs—including night deliveries to avoid traffic congestion.
Why Is a Local Stockpile Key?
Many coal suppliers rely on direct shipments from Kalimantan without a stock buffer in Java. That means one weather disruption or port issue immediately stops supply to customers. With a 60,000-ton stockpile in Surabaya, we have enough reserves to absorb disruptions for several weeks without affecting customer delivery schedules.
